On October 8, 2026, Wison New Energies held the steel cutting ceremony for the UOG 319,000 DWT Very Large Crude Carrier (VLCC) project at its Nantong fabrication yard, starting construction of the No. 1 and No. 2 vessels. The milestone moves the project into physical construction, and applies Wison's experience in complex offshore projects to commercial shipbuilding.
In May 2026, Wison signed a contract with United Overseas Group Ltd. (UOG) for six firm VLCCs, with options for four more. Each vessel has a deadweight of 319,000 tonnes, a length of about 332.9 meters and a breadth of 60 meters. Optimized hull forms, advanced propulsion integration and energy-saving technologies are designed to raise efficiency and meet current and anticipated IMO environmental standards.
“From contract signing to the commencement of construction, our shared vision is now taking shape. This marks an important step forward in our partnership with UOG and demonstrates how Wison's engineering expertise, construction management, and project execution experience, developed through complex offshore projects such as FLNG and FPSO, can be applied across a broader range of projects. We look forward to deepening our collaboration with UOG and leveraging our established engineering systems and proven delivery capabilities to create long-term value for customers worldwide.”
Wison will continue to work closely with UOG, with a strong focus on safety and quality, to deliver modern, high-quality VLCCs for efficient and reliable global energy transportation.
